The Symbian online community reaches beyond Symbian’s internal technology audience and by incorporating Web 2.0 functionality, it encourages the general public users to sign-up and engage. People vote and comment on other people’s ideas. Successful ideas have a chance of being implemented and included in the roadmap for future mobile rollout.
Firefly and its strategic partner, The Conversation Group, implemented a community management strategy that included a redesign and new messaging for the site, in order to make it more appealing to the ‘Facebook and twitter generation’.
It was imperative that we did not alienate the established community with our strategy. It was incredibly important not to have a patronising tone of voice, considering the brand loyal, techie, early-adopters who were frequenting the site. The new design is now live and has been well-received by both audiences to date.
