London, 22 September 2008 - Firefly Communications, one of Europe’s leading independent PR agencies, has expanded its Nordic operations by opening an office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The new Danish office will function as an integrated part of Firefly’s Nordic team, which has its main base in Stockholm, Sweden. With the addition of Copenhagen, Firefly Nordics is now able to offer more comprehensive PR services across the region. The expansion also extends Firefly’s European footprint, with six offices in Copenhagen, Edinburgh, London (HQ), Munich, Paris and Stockholm.

Managing Firefly’s Copenhagen presence will be former PR account director, journalist and screenwriter, Thomas Sjolin. Sjolin joins Firefly from one of Copenhagen’s leading PR agencies and has led past campaigns for brands including Adobe, HP, Cisco, Philips and Coca-Cola. He will report into Firefly group managing director Mark Mellor in London, as well as regional director for Firefly Nordics, Carsten Carlsson.

The Danish office will serve both business-to-business and consumer clients, including well-known brands such as LG Electronics, AMD and TPI, among others. During its first month Firefly has already won two new local Danish campaigns – one for a prominent Danish photo gallery, the other for a new business board game.

“We’re finding the Nordics the fastest expanding area within Firefly,” comments Firefly’s group managing director, Mark Mellor. “We’ve seen tremendous development in the region, with revenues growing 250 per cent over the past year and new talent joining our Stockholm office. Copenhagen gives Firefly actual feet on the ground in Denmark to provide a better service to our existing clients, as well as the skills and experience to develop new business in the territory.”

Thomas Sjolin, director, Firefly Communications, Denmark, adds, “A lot of companies view the Nordics as one region when it comes to sales and PR. At the same time we’re seeing many companies look to consolidate their PR efforts across the Nordics by reducing the number of agencies involved, in order to cut costs and streamline PR. Firefly’s expanded Nordic operations means we’re now in a unique position to meet those demands.”
